Is it possible for me to miss my period just because my sister did?

i have heard that if more than one woman lives in the same house, that their menstrual cycles tend to match up. both me and my sister missed our period this month. she thinks shes pregnant, i dont think the same about me. is it possible that her missing her period could have triggered me to miss mine?
