My kitten has blackish discgarge comming out of her right ear?

My kitten for some time now has a blackish ear wax in her ear...the vet gave me some oitment to drop in there but does not appear to be doing anything....when you rub the back of her ears it makes a squishy noise like there is liquid in there...her ear smells bad.
