How do you get the vertical shadow at the edge of the table/div?

Fore example look at a href="http://www.ieee.org" rel="nofollow"http://www.ieee.org/a and see how the main container is centered and the edges are vertically shadowed and blurred. What code and syntax does it take to do this?
