What are the safest neighbourhoods in Denver to move to?

I am likely moving to Denver in the fall, and am not at all familiar with the best areas to live. I may not have a car to begin with either, so somewhere close to coffee shops, or in it's own little neighborhood would be cool. Any suggestions for the best, safest areas? Would it be better to just go to Boulder instead of Denver itself?
